“Paul and Timothy” – This is identified as a main clause because it introduces the writers, they are seen as the subject of the greeting.
1b slaves of Christ Jesus,
“slaves of” This phrase provide additional identification as it furthers describes who they are , they identify themselves as slaves. This is indented under 1a.
“of Christ Jesus” is put on a new line and indented as it modifies the word slaves it shows who they are slave to Paul and Timothy = Slaves of Christ Jesus.
1c To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi,
“To all the saints” – This is identified as a main clause because it introduces the salutation.
“in Christ Jesus” is indented because it modifies the saints it shows that they are part of the body of Christ.
“who are in Phillipi ” is also indented as it shows where the saints are located.
1d with the overseers and deacons:
“with the overseers and deacons” – This phrase is indented under the main clause 1c) “To all the Saints” because it adds additional addresses. It is introduced by with a prepositional phrase.
2a Grace to you and peace
“Grace to you and peace – This is identified as a main clause because it introduces the salutation.
2b from God our Father
“from God our Father” – This phrase is indented under “Grace to you and peace” because it identifies the source of the blessing which is introduced by from.
2c and the Lord Jesus Christ.
“and the Lord Jesus Christ” – This phrase is indented under the main clause at the same level as “from God our Father” as it is introduced with the conjuction and. Both God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are the source.
